Otherwise, it was a fairly easy game, good length, and has a great adrenaline rush at the end.thank goodness for the 'Second Chance' option! It also had hidden passageways- always a plus! I played the game as a 'Senior Detective' but had to search online for a strategy-guide hint twice. It is one the early ND games so it was less polished and had fewer puzzles, but it had an interesting story and group of suspects, and the scene of the crime was limited to a theatre which decreased the number of rooms to be revisited. And, as another reviewer noted, you have to keep your own notes in a ND game.įor people who like ND games, this one was fun! I enjoyed playing it. If you are playing a ND for the first time, I'd advise playing as a 'Junior Detective' in order to get hints from Nancy's friends when you telephone them. There is a lot of talking to the same suspects over and over again and you have to think about their responses and the evidence you've gathered in repetitive room searches in order to proceed with the game.

I love theaters and to see a theater in one of my favorite game franchises is AMAZING! Additionally, there is story dealing with the theater which is really nice to making it not super complex story wise but more complex than most adventures games go. Sometimes this can be annoying but I find most of the puzzles to be understandable with enough thought. This game is filled with Puzzles but no way to skip them but you can call Nancy's friends for hints if you get stuck, Note: Not a HOP game. The controls can be a bit clunky since it is an older Nancy Drew game but once you get use to it, I think it is easy to control.
This game is not the newest Nancy Drew game but I say it does look good quality wise but as it was made a while ago the dialogue and sounds can sometimes sound staticky but that doesn't really bother me. In this game Nancy Drew is looking for her friend after she was kidnapped, as the time counts down to the theater being knocked down. It might not be so great for more experienced players, but they can take advantage of the free trial and find out if it is. Overall, it's a great game for Nancy Drew newbies, which I highly recommend. But, if you are unsure if you will like the story, there is a free trial of the game, so you can try it out before you buy.

I do have a bias to old movie houses, since I used to work in one, and I've had a long time interest in Harry Houdini, who is referenced in this story, so my personal interests definitely seemed to have to do with why I liked the story so much. I liked the story and the location I was exploring so much, that I hardly noticed the lack of puzzles. There does seem to be less puzzles than in other Nancy Drew games, but that did not get in the way of my enjoyment. Not only is this a good game for Nancy Drew beginners, but it also has a great story and fun characters to talk to. I did have to use a walkthrough a little bit with the Final Scene (I am new to both Nancy Drew and adventure games so I was still getting acclimated), but I was able to figure out most of the game without a walkthrough's help, and that felt good. This is the 2nd Nancy Drew game I ever played, the first one I played was The Secret of Shadow Ranch and that game was too hard for me and I ended up using a walkthrough to get through most of it. People who are more experienced with these games may find the Final Scene to be too easy, but I found it to be the perfect level of challenge.
